Futures for the Rest of Us: Los Angeles is a groundbreaking exhibit of fearless futurist art by visionary artists belonging to groups underrepresented in leading science fiction stories in entertainment media. FFRU: LA offers intriguing visions of what lies ahead from fresh and infinitely valid perspectives.
Why? Because the future belongs to everyone.

The present day perpetually overlaps with an exciting, undefined future where anything is possible. Yet for a very long time, most explorations of the future have been very narrowly focused in perspective (mostly male, mostly white, mostly straight, mostly able-bodied). This has been especially true in science fiction film and television. As a sci-fi filmmaker, I am extremely aware of this imbalance. Fortunately, we've begun to see more representation and inclusion of the many kinds of people who are the science fiction audience; I want to build on that momentum.
Futures for the Rest of Us: Los Angeles is underrepresented voices speaking on the future from their unique perspectives. These voices shape, enrich, expand, enlighten and validate our collective conversation about the future and what we'll make of it; indeed, without a range of voices participating, no conversation about the future is truly legitimate.
We humans are many groups that make up a whole . . . and the Future belongs to all of us.
